Course Conduct

The workshop will be held once a week for four weeks over Zoom and will be one hour long. I will send out a Zoom link before the start of each session. 

Please arrive ten minutes early to each session so that I can assist you if you are having technical difficulties with Zoom.

I will send you writing prompts at the end of each session to work on before the next session.

Please prepare a piece of writing before the first class. This piece of writing can be whatever you want; there is no specific format and any genre is acceptable. A rough draft or already written piece is perfectly acceptable. There is no minimum or maximum word count but I think that 250-500 words is manageable for most people.  You will use this piece of work to apply the principles that we will be discussing in the session. I suggest that you choose something that you are comfortable discussing during the session and are interested in working on throughout the workshop. 

I only look at work during the session. I offer developmental editing as a separate service outside of the workshop. If you are interested in my editing services please contact me directly. 

The workshop will be paid in full by the start of the first class. I offer sliding scale rates upon request. If you are having difficulty affording the workshop please contact me privately and I will work with you. 

I ask that you are mindful of other participants and their time. Please give everyone a chance to speak and share their work, if they wish to.

I ask that you are respectful of the privacy of other participants. Whatever work is shared should remain private within the session. The same principle applies for discussions. Everything that is discussed in the class should remain confidential. 

Please keep the Zoom space private. I ask that you do not allow other people to walk behind you or interrupt the session while you are on Zoom.

This workshop is a safe place for people to discuss their writing together. I ask that everyone be respectful of the other participants and behave appropriately. Anyone who harasses or acts inappropriately towards the other participants will be asked to leave immediately.
